Emergency Services Training (EST) students are attending Hazmat Awareness and Hazmat Operations courses at the New Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, where Hazmat 30 and Decon 30 units are based. During these courses, students are being taught important topics such as firefighter safety, hazard recognition, regulations and standards, chemistry, hazard identification, the Department of Transportation (DOT) guidebook, site management, container behavior, defensive control measures, personal protective equipment, detection, monitoring and sampling equipment use, victim rescue and recovery, and decontamination procedures.

Many thanks to FADO Lange, FF/EMT Carroll, and FADO Ruch for assisting. The courses are led by Lead Instructor Sherry Hohl, with Support Instructors Dave Ruby, Tim Warner, and Debbie Gartrell-Kemp.
