SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) serving middle school, high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.

Utilizing an applied method of instruction for preparing America’s high-performance workers in public career and technical programs, SkillsUSA provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. These experiences build and reinforce self-confidence, a strong work ethic and effective communications skills.

Today, students competed in Maryland. One of the locations for Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician skills testing was held at the Carroll County Public Safety Training Center, in Westminster, MD. Two of our CCVESA EST students participated in the EMT Skills portion, Trista Christiansen and Christian Often.

A big thank you to those that made today possible. Firefighter: Coordinator Bobby Holmes, Shawn Day, Byron Welker, JJ Lynott, Mike Stewart and Steve Yealdhall. EMT: Sherry Hohl, Marianne Warehime, Susan Mott, Mark New, Aaron Edwards, Nicholas Howard, Ryan Emmons, Eric Zaney, Rhianna Hale and Coordinator Debbie Gartrell-Kemp.

The awards ceremony will take place at 7pm tonight at Shipley Arena. Congratulations to all of the participants!
