Step 1 - Export you station data to a file. |
See the instructions for Data Export. Remember, the process is different the first time. The first time, we are going to send everything because we have not collected your data since the conversion to version 5 in January of 2002. |
Step 2 - Connect to the Internet and go to the Send Data Menu item. Here are the instructions for the actual transfer. |
If you can't connect to the internet from the PC that has the firehouse Data Export file, you can copy that FH5Export.FH5 file to a floppy disk and take it to a PC that does have Internet Access. The file size is actually rather small as Firehouse Software has compressed the file during it export. |
| Step 3 - Click on the menu item Send Data. You will be connected to a Secure 128 bit encrypted site just like those sites that sell merchandise on the internet. You will get the message screen shown to the right. Click "YES". This accepts the certificate of security that we are using. We are sharing the one owned by the server hosting company to avoid unnecessary expense. |
Step 4 - Next, you will be asked for a userid and password. For obvious reasons, this userid and password is not documented here on the publicly accessed pages. The userid and password will be emailed to each station representative. Enter that userid and password then press "OK". |
Step 5 - You will then be presented with this screen on the right
side of the screen. Here you will click on the browse button
to drill down to your FH5Expo.FH5 file that you
created from the Export Process in Firehouse Software. You can
only send a file with the .FH5 extension.
Then click on the dropdown list to choose your station number. This is important as it will put your data in a folder for your station. If you choose the wrong station, your data will go to the wrong location. Then it will either write the file preventing the real station from sending their data or it will not allow you to write the file because that station already sent their file. The key part here is that you must select the correct station and you can not send a file if I have not cleared the previously sent file. |
| Step 6 - Here is what the screen will look like when Union Bridge is ready to send their data. Press "Upload" to begin the transfer process. |
Step 7 - When the process is complete, you will get this screen.
After it is complete, Please send an email to the committee to
inform us your data for the previous month (or in the case of the
first time 2002) is ready.
This is very important. Starting in 2003, the State of Maryland is requiring all stations to submit their data to the state by the 10th of the following month. We need your data by the 5th of the month in order to meet this requirement. State and Federal funding will be tied directly to the submission of this data in a timely fashion. To send us the email, you can choose on the left menu, System Support, Problem Mgmt, Send Email to Committee. Fill in the form and press "Send" |
